R3^◊ Acetabular System

Your natural hip joint forms what's called a ball and socket joint. With the POLAR3^◊ total hip replacement, the ball portion of your joint will be replaced by the combination of a POLARSTEM^◊ hip stem and an OXINIUM^◊ femoral hip head. For the socket portion, the POLAR3 System uses a combination of the R3^◊ cup and a highly cross-linked polyethylene plastic liner.

R3 is the primary cup used by Smith & Nephew surgeons globally. With over a decade of clinical heritage, it has been used in major markets all over the world and has been implanted in more than one million cases since its launch. In addition, it has reported results in all major orthopaedic registries, making it a trusted technology platform with proven success.

The highly cross-linked polyethylene liner, also called XLPE, works in concert with the OXINIUM hip head to make up VERILAST Hip Technology.
